DURING THE PAST FEW YEARS THE DEMAND FOR HOME TECHNOLOGY HAS GROWN SIGNIFICANTLY, WITH MORE AND MORE PRODUCTS BECOMING AVAILABLE. IN THE CURRENT MARKET, WHERE HOME OWNERS ARE LOOKING TO IMPROVE THEIR EXISTING HOMES, TECHNOLOGY HAS BECOME ONE OF THE SIMPLEST AND MORE ENJOYABLE AREAS TO INVEST, OR SO YOU WOULD THINK
There are currently many affordable “off the shelf” products available allowing the easy introduction of technology into the home. Whether it's to control some mood lighting at the touch of a button or TV and music from your iPad, all of these options need to be fully understood, cabled for and installed correctly to ensure that they work as expected. During their 12 years in business, Living Home Tech have been involved with many systems that have promised the world only to deliver significantly less, leaving clients cold and unsure of the real benefits of home technology.
In 2012, in the UK, 21 million households had internet access and over a quarter of adults and nearly half of all teens owned a smartphone. For 2 years each manufacturer has scrambled to have the next “big” thing and the best App on the market to control their equipment, creating new more affordable ways to break in to real home automation. Whilst many of these work extremely well, they still have many limitations that need to be thought through and discussed prior to any purchase. There are many systems available for multiroom music distribution, heating, lighting, TV control, etc, many of them relying on Wi-Fi or a specific cable requirement that may not be compatible with your expectations and desires for your home.
SO WHATS NEXT?
Living Home Tech have split the design & consultancy process into 3 stages. In the first instance a designer will arrange a visit to meet and discuss your exact needs and expectations, creating a ‘wish list’ and design document in the process. Every conceivable option available is discussed and through this process they are whittled down to the systems and solutions that meet the required needs and expectations.
The second stage in this process is the design, taking all of the information gleaned from the first meeting and laying it out in simple to understand documents. These design documents may also serve as a wiring diagram for 3rd party installers and electricians to follow, simplifying and controlling the whole installation process when the time arises. The design document can now be altered and amended in-line with any future discussions, ensuring that control of the installation and systems is maintained every step of the way, effectively future proofing the home.
The third stage, Installation. Because the time has been spent on stages 1 and 2 this stage becomes infinitely simpler and more enjoyable to complete. All of the important decisions have been made before a single cable has been installed, meaning that 100% of the features, systems and most importantly, expectations will be met perfectly, both now and in the future.
