The Challenge: A Cinema Without the Technology on Show
Our client wanted a dedicated home cinema experience, but the room also needed to retain its clean, elegant appearance when the cinema wasn't being used with sea views.
The challenge was simple:
How do you create a high-performance home cinema while hiding the technology completely when the room is not in use?
Rather than simply mounting a projector to the ceiling and leaving a large cinema screen permanently visible, we designed the system so that the key components could disappear completely.
This is where smart home automation and specialist installation make a significant difference.
Hiding the Projector with Future Automation
One of the most visually intrusive elements of a traditional home cinema can be the projector.
Even a premium projector mounted neatly to the ceiling remains visible every day — whether you're watching a film or not.
For this project, we used an electric projector lift from Future Automation, allowing the projector to be concealed when the cinema is switched off.
At the touch of a button, the projector can descend into position, ready for the movie to begin.
When the film is finished, the projector retracts back into its concealed position.
The result?
No projector hanging from the ceiling. No unnecessary visual clutter. Just a beautifully finished room.
Future Automation's specialist lifting mechanisms are particularly useful for luxury residential projects where aesthetics are just as important as performance.
A Cinema Screen That Disappears Too
The projector wasn't the only piece of technology we wanted to hide.
We also installed an electric flush cinema screen, allowing the screen to retract when the cinema isn't being used.
When everything is concealed, the room can return to its original purpose without looking like a home cinema.
When it's time for a film, the system transforms the room in seconds using the intuitive Control4 remote.
With the projector lowering and the screen descending automatically, the entire experience can be controlled as one seamless system.
Smart Home Automation Makes It Effortless

Instead of operating multiple switches, remotes and controls, the entire cinema can be integrated into a single automated experience.
A simple command can initiate the cinema sequence:
The projector lift lowers the projector.
The electric screen descends.

And when the film is over, everything can return to its concealed position.
